Our first KayakForCare! project had two very public goals: One, to set a new World Record by paddling 144 miles on flat water over 24 hours. And two, to raise awareness and $10,000 for affordable, quality Hospice Care.
When our wake had settled, we'd covered nearly 146 miles in 24 hours, crushing the existing World Record of 137 miles set in 1991. But more importantly, we'd raised over $20,000 for Hospice programs in Washington, California and Arizona.
What do we say about these accomplishments?
We say: "We're just getting started!"
The need to spread the word about Hospice and to raise money for those in need has never been more important. We're doing our part to continue spreading the message, such as by racing as Team KayakForCare! in the 2006 Yukon River Quest, and a host of other ultra-marathon races and expeditions in the future.
